1. POLICY STATEMENT

Norton Athletic Football Club is committed to creating a football environment that is welcoming, inclusive, respectful and accessible to all.

The Club believes that football should be available to everyone regardless of:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender

  • Gender reassignment

  • Marriage or civil partnership

  • Pregnancy or maternity

  • Race

  • Religion or belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation

  • Socio-economic background

The Club will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying, victimisation or exclusion of any kind.

 

2. PURPOSE

This policy aims to:

  • Promote equality of opportunity.

  • Encourage diversity across the Club.

  • Create an inclusive environment.

  • Prevent discrimination.

  • Ensure fair treatment for all members.

 

3. SCOPE

This policy applies to:

  • Players

  • Coaches

  • Managers

  • Volunteers

  • Directors

  • Committee Members

  • Parents & Guardians

  • Spectators

  • Sponsors

  • Visitors

It applies to all Club activities both on and off the pitch.

 

4. OUR COMMITMENT

Norton Athletic FC will:

  • Treat all individuals fairly and with dignity.

  • Promote respect throughout the Club.

  • Encourage participation from all sections of the community.

  • Provide equal opportunities wherever reasonably practicable.

  • Challenge discriminatory behaviour.

 

5. PROHIBITED CONDUCT

The following behaviour is unacceptable:

  • Racism

  • Sexism

  • Homophobia

  • Transphobia

  • Religious discrimination

  • Disability discrimination

  • Harassment

  • Bullying

  • Hate speech

  • Victimisation

Any such behaviour may result in disciplinary action.

 

6. RECRUITMENT & VOLUNTEERING

The Club will seek to recruit volunteers, coaches and officials based on:

  • Skills

  • Experience

  • Suitability

Opportunities shall be made available fairly and openly.

 

7. PARTICIPATION

The Club aims to make football accessible to all members of the local community.

We will encourage participation from:

  • Children and young people

  • Adults

  • Women and girls

  • Individuals with disabilities

  • Underrepresented groups

 

8. REPORTING CONCERNS

Any individual who experiences or witnesses discrimination should report concerns to:

  • Club Welfare Officer

  • Chairman

  • Secretary

  • Director responsible for Governance

Reports will be treated seriously and investigated appropriately.

 

9. RESPONSIBILITIES

Everyone connected with the Club has a responsibility to:

  • Treat others with respect.

  • Promote inclusion.

  • Challenge inappropriate behaviour.

  • Support equality and diversity objectives.

 

10. REVIEW

This policy shall be reviewed annually.
